Peace Now cut-sew cardigan

Peace Now cut-sew cardigan

I bought a BABY, The Stars Shine Bright New Year’s Lucky Pack today. More on that later, but my other shopping find today was equally exciting. Black Peace Now is finishing up it’s 70% off sale this weekend. I scored this cute, long cut-sew cardigan on the cheap. It was originally $120 and I walked away with it for $35.

There’s something so incredibly satisfying about getting a good deal on something!

I popped it on over my outfit for the day. It’s not quite working with an OP but a jumperskirt should be just fine.

Winter Forest Friends Tea Party Thursday, Dec 31 2009

Program/menu from BABY, The Stars Shine Bright's 1st annual holiday tea party

Program/menu from BABY, The Stars Shine Bright's 1st annual holiday tea party

As you may know, Lydia had the opportunity to go to the first BABY, The Stars Shine Bright tea party during the summer to celebrate the opening of the San Francisco store. As I couldn’t make it to the first tea party myself, I was determined to go to the second – what seems to be the first of an annual winter tea party they’ll be holding in the future.

I must say, I commend the brands for holding these tea parties for their customers every now and then. Not only does a nice little party, build up a lot of customer loyalty by making customers feel appreciated – but customers must do a mini shopping blitz to score tickets. In this case, starting December 1st, customers had to spend $200 at BABY, The Stars Shine Bright and request an invite in order to score one.

Retrospective: NEW PEOPLE’s Impact on Lolita Fashion Wednesday, Sep 2 2009

In a way, the heavens parted on Saturday, August 15 for many die-hard Lolita fans. Frilly fashionistas had descended upon San Francisco’s Japantown from such fashionable cities as Los Angeles and New York to be there for the NEW PEOPLE grand opening festivities. Many of the first people to enter the NEW PEOPLE complex were dedicated Lolitas seeking  the coveted BABY, The Stars Shine Bright tea party invitations. Those who sought comfort in simpler silhouettes with a Gothic Lolita flair followed suit gravitating towards the Black Peace Now store.

Those who were already well-versed in Lolita fashion were elated to finally have a location they could flock to and braved a two-hour wait in an un-completed building that lacked air conditioning and a working credit card machine on the fashion floor. BABY’s long line was dominated by flufy petticoats with the occassional bystander, a boyfriend or a parent, begrudgingly standing by. Which is why Kaylyn, a girl wearing jeans and tightly clutching a BABY, The Stars Shine Bright shopping bag, stood apart from the rest of the day’s BABY customers.

Inside the shops: Baby, the Stars Shine Bright Monday, Aug 31 2009

Sorry for the wait on this set, but I took a lot of pictures of the Baby, the Stars Shine Bright. The San Francisco Baby store is the first in the US and only one of two retail locations outside of Japan.

BtSSB was packed on the opening day of Viz’s New People center. Excited lolitas filled the store clutching jumper-skirts and accessories–it was quite a sight! For those who couldn’t make the grand opening, here’s the scene just after the first wave of shoppers were allowed in…
